Program at a Glance

This 60-credit, CACREP-accredited program prepares you to work with individuals across the treatment spectrum. Select a track — generalist or addiction counseling — and supplement classes with community-based internships, independent studies, or faculty research. Upon graduation, you may meet the requirements for NJ licensure as a professional counselor, clinical alcohol and drug counselor, or both. You can also apply for national counselor certification.

Who Should Pursue This Program?

Consider this program if you’re an experienced human services professional or a recent college graduate who would like to work as a general counselor or addiction specialist. It’s also a good fit if you’re planning to pursue a doctoral program after graduation.

  • National Standardized Admission Test: Applicants are only recommended to take the GRE if their undergraduate GPA is below 3.0.
