This 36-credit program focuses on the core issues of schooling, curriculum, and instruction with a goal of enhancing your skill set to build strong learning communities and efficiently manage schools. Combine online coursework with a hands-on administrative internship and a professional portfolio assessment. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to lead a school and apply for initial certification as a New Jersey School Principal and for your Supervisor Certification.

Who Should Pursue This Program?

This program is ideal if you’re a college graduate with at least three years of full-time experience working in an educational setting as a certified teacher or a staff member and you want to make an impact – both in your current position and through future leadership opportunities. The online coursework accommodates busy working professionals, and synchronous video meetings create a sense of community among students and faculty. You'll create a schedule that maximizes your district's tuition reimbursement.

  • National Standardized Admission Test Requirement: Applicants to the MEd Educational Leadership program are required to take the GRE unless they already hold a master’s or another high-level degree. View Graduate Admission Testing Information and Waivers
  • Teacher Certification and Educational Experience: Applicants to the Educational Leadership programs must provide a teaching certificate or evidence of successful educational experience under a valid provisional or standard New Jersey or equivalent out-of-state certificate (NJAC 6A:9-12.5). At least three completed years of successful teaching or educational experience are required at the time of application for admission to programs leading to principal/supervisor licensure.
