This 15-credit program equips early career teachers with critical leadership skills. Including relevant courses from each TCNJ certification program useful to new teachers, this certificate program can help you determine if you want to pursue a formal leadership position. Teachers with three or more years of experience seeking state certification should apply to the Master of Education in Educational Leadership or to the Post-Master’s Certification Program in Educational Leadership.

Who Should Pursue This Program?

This certificate is for you if you’re early in your career as a certified teacher or staff member and would like to begin developing your skills as an educational leader. This fully online program accommodates busy working professionals and offers synchronous video meetings to create a sense of community among students and faculty.

  • National Standardized Admission Test Requirement: Applicants to the MEd Educational Leadership program are required to take the GRE unless they already hold a master’s or another high-level degree. View Graduate Admission Testing Information and Waivers
  • Teacher Certification and Educational Experience: Applicants to the Educational Leadership programs must provide a teaching certificate or evidence of successful educational experience under a valid provisional or standard New Jersey or equivalent out-of-state certificate (NJAC 6A:9-12.5). At least three completed years of successful teaching or educational experience are required at the time of application for admission to programs leading to principal/supervisor licensure.
