Program at a Glance

Develop and strengthen the skills, strategies, and knowledge to be a highly effective, creative special education teacher. This 33-credit, fully accredited program emphasizes the relationship among differentiated instruction, curriculum modifications, positive behavior supports, collaboration, assistive technology, and literacy instruction. Most courses are taught face to face in the late afternoon, with some hybrid and off-campus opportunities.

Who Should Pursue This Program?

If you already hold a standard teaching certificate in an area other than special education and want to obtain New Jersey certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities through a master’s-level program, you’re an ideal candidate.

For your application to be considered complete, you must submit the online application and all supplemental documents.

  • National Standardized Admission Test: Applicants are only recommended to take the GRE if their undergraduate GPA is below 3.0.
  • Copy of Teacher Certification:  A CEAS or standard elementary or secondary education certificate with a teachable major or content area is required.
  • Educational Experience: Several years of teaching are required.
